XM App Review: Mobile Trading Features, Pros and Cons
By BrokaBoy Research Team · Reviewed 14 October 2026 · Updated 14 October 2026 · 5 min read
The XM app is XM's own mobile app for iOS and Android, combining trading, charts, price alerts, news, deposits, withdrawals and support chat. It suits phone-first traders, but it doesn't run Expert Advisors, so keep MetaTrader 5 for automated or heavily customised trading.

Our verdict on the XM app
The XM app is XM's own all-in-one mobile app: you can trade, deposit, withdraw, chat to support and read market news without switching apps. It suits traders who mainly use a phone and want account admin and trading in one place. If your analysis depends on MetaTrader indicators or Expert Advisors, keep the MetaTrader 5 app or desktop terminal as well. The XM app doesn't replace them for automated or heavily customised trading.
Here's what we could confirm from the app's official App Store listing and XM's website (checked October 2026), and how we'd use it.

Store ratings vary a lot by country and change over time. The 4.6 figure comes from one regional App Store with a small number of ratings, so it isn't a broad verdict. Look at the rating in your own store and read the most recent one-star reviews, which tend to show current bugs.
What you can do in the app
Trading. Open and close positions, set stop-loss and take-profit, and manage open trades. The store listing highlights fast order execution.
Charts. Charts with drawing tools and indicators. That's enough for trend lines, support and resistance, and common indicators like moving averages and RSI. It isn't a full replacement for desktop charting with custom indicators.
Watchlists and alerts. Build watchlists and set price alerts with push notifications. This is one of the most useful features for part-time traders. Set an alert at your entry level instead of watching the chart all day.
News and research. A market news and analysis feed, plus access to XM's education content and webinars.
Account admin. Deposits, withdrawals and support chat. XM's website says live chat is available in the app. Having funding and trading in one place is the main reason to use this app instead of MetaTrader mobile.
Demo. A practice account with virtual funds, which is useful for learning the app's order screens before you risk money. Our XM demo account guide covers setting one up to match your live conditions.

Pros and cons
What we like
Trading, funding, withdrawals and support in one place
Price alerts and watchlists that suit part-time traders
A demo inside the same app you'll trade live on
Wide language support
What to weigh up
A large download (around 306 MB on iOS), which matters on older phones or limited data
No Expert Advisors or custom MQL indicators
Store ratings are based on relatively few reviews in some countries
Features and payment methods differ by country and XM entity, so a review written elsewhere may not match your version
Is the XM app safe?
There are two separate questions here: whether the app is genuine, and whether the company behind it is regulated where you live.
Genuine app. Install only from the official Apple App Store or Google Play, or via the badges on xm.com. Check that the publisher is XM / Trading Point. Fake trading apps and "XM" groups on WhatsApp and Telegram are a common scam. XM won't ask you to install an APK sent in a chat, or to pay a fee to release a withdrawal.
Data. The App Store privacy section says the app collects identifiers used for tracking, and links contact details, financial information, photos (for verification documents) and diagnostics to your identity. That's normal for a regulated broker app that handles KYC, but it's worth knowing. Turn off tracking in your phone settings if you prefer.
Account security. Use a strong, unique password, enable biometric or two-factor login where offered, and don't use the app on a shared phone.
Regulation. The app is just the front door. Your protections depend on which XM company holds your account. Our is XM legit page explains this entity by entity.
Setting the app up properly in five minutes
Install from the official store and log in with your XM Members Area details.
Turn on biometric login and notifications, then set a test price alert to check push notifications work.
Build one watchlist with only the symbols you actually trade.
Open a symbol and check its spread at the time you usually trade. Compare Standard and Ultra Low pricing if you hold both. See our XM spreads and fees guide.
Place a 0.01-lot trade on the demo and practise moving the stop-loss on a small screen. Mis-taps happen more on mobile.
Make a small test deposit and a small test withdrawal from the app before funding more.
What we'd do
Use the XM app as your control centre for funding, alerts, news and quick trade management. Keep MT5 on desktop for analysis, or for EAs on a VPS. Set alerts instead of watching charts, and always set a stop-loss before you put the phone down. If you haven't opened an account yet, start with the XM minimum deposit and read our full XM review.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Full risk disclosure.
Frequently asked questions
Is the XM app free?
Yes. The XM app is free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play. You pay normal trading costs, such as spreads and overnight swaps, on trades you place, but there's no charge for the app itself. It also includes a demo account with virtual funds, so you can try it without depositing.
Is the XM app safe to use?
The genuine app is published by XM, provided by Trading Point Holdings Ltd, on the official app stores. Only install it from there or via xm.com, never from a link sent in a chat. Your protections also depend on which regulated XM company holds your account, so check that separately before depositing.
Can I use MT5 with the XM app?
They are separate apps. The XM app handles trading, funding and support in XM's own interface, while the MetaTrader 5 app connects to your MT5 account using its login, password and server name. Many traders use the XM app for deposits, withdrawals and alerts, and MT5 for charting.
Can I withdraw money through the XM app?
Yes. The app lets you deposit and withdraw, and its store listing mentions bank cards and bank transfers. The methods available depend on your country and XM entity. Withdrawals still follow XM's rules: verified account, payment method in your own name, and deposits returned to their original method first.
Does the XM app have a demo account?
Yes. The App Store listing says the XM app includes a free demo account with virtual funds and no time limit. Use it to practise placing orders and moving stop-losses on a small screen, and set it up with the same balance and leverage you plan to use on your live account.
