XM Bonus: Who Qualifies, How It Works and What to Check

By BrokaBoy Research Team · Reviewed 13 October 2026 · Updated 13 October 2026 · 5 min read

XM advertises a deposit bonus on its global (FSC Belize) site, but availability and percentage vary by region and the credit cannot be withdrawn. Clients under EU (CySEC) or Australian (ASIC) rules can't receive trading bonuses at all. Check the exact offer and terms in your XM Members Area before accepting.

Key takeaways

  • No trading bonuses under EU (CySEC) or Australian (ASIC) rules
  • On XM Global the bonus varies by region and is linked to the Standard account
  • Bonus credit is not withdrawable; it only adds margin
  • Losses come out of your own cash before the bonus credit
  • Active traders usually save more with Ultra Low than the bonus is worth

Who can get an XM bonus at all

Start with eligibility, because it rules out many readers before the amount matters:

Where XM onboards youRegulatorBonus position
EU / EEA residentsCySEC (Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd)No trading bonuses. EU rules restrict CFD providers from offering incentives to retail clients.
UK residents(XM does not run a UK-authorised entity)Check whether XM accepts you at all. UK-regulated CFD firms also cannot offer trading incentives to retail clients.
Australian residentsASIC rulesNo trading bonuses under ASIC's CFD product intervention order, which bans inducements such as trading credits and rebates for retail clients. Third-party sources disagree on whether XM currently onboards Australians.
DIFC (Dubai) clientsDFSA (Trading Point MENA Ltd)Not advertised. Ask XM directly.
Most other countriesFSC Belize (XM Global Ltd) and other offshore entitiesBonuses are advertised, and availability and percentage "vary by region".

So the XM bonus is mainly an offer from XM's international entities. If you're in the EU or Australia and a website promises you an XM bonus, it is either out of date or sending you to a non-EU entity. That would mean giving up protections such as the 1:30 leverage cap and the EU investor compensation scheme.

What XM actually says about the bonus (October 2026)

We read XM's own bonus page on the global site (footer: XM Global Limited, FSC Belize licence 8557558). It states:

  • The headline product is a deposit bonus: trading credit added to your account when you deposit.
  • Availability and percentage vary by region. XM uses a 100% bonus on a $100 deposit only as an illustration. That is not a promise of what you'll get.
  • Bonuses are not withdrawable. The credit works as margin that supports your positions. You cannot take it out as cash.
  • You claim it from the Members Area, and the offer is tied to the Standard account. The account-types page links the Standard account to bonuses; the Ultra Low and Shares accounts are not marketed with one.
  • "T&Cs apply". The bonus page itself does not link to a separate bonus terms PDF, and XM's legal-documents page lists the client agreement, risk disclosures, AML policy and VPS terms but no standalone bonus terms. Read the terms shown in your Members Area before you accept.

We are not quoting tier amounts here. Sponsored articles for XM South Africa have listed tiered deposit bonuses, but we couldn't confirm those figures on xm.com itself, and XM says the numbers change by country. Your Members Area shows the real offer for your account.

No-deposit bonus: XM has historically promoted a no-deposit trading bonus for new accounts in some regions. We found no current no-deposit offer on xm.com's bonus or promotions pages at time of writing. Treat any "XM $30 no-deposit bonus" claim on third-party sites as unverified until you see it in your own Members Area.

How a non-withdrawable bonus behaves in a real account

This is the part most bonus pages skip. Suppose your region gets a 50% deposit bonus and you deposit $200.

Amount
Your cash deposit$200
Bonus credit (50%)$100
Equity shown on MT5$300
What you could withdraw today$200 (your cash; the bonus stays behind)

Scenario A — you make $60 profit. Equity is $360. Profit generally belongs to you, so withdrawable cash is roughly $260. Brokers commonly remove some or all of the bonus when you withdraw, so check the rule on partial withdrawals before you request one.

Scenario B — you lose $250. Equity drops to $50. You've lost all $200 of your own cash plus $50 of the credit. The bonus didn't protect your money. It let you keep positions open longer while your own money went first.

That is the honest summary: a margin-type bonus increases how much loss your account can absorb, not how much you can earn. With high leverage it also makes it easier to open positions that are too large. Run the numbers in our margin calculator using your equity without the bonus.

Bonus or Ultra Low? Price the trade-off

Choosing the bonus-eligible Standard account usually means paying a wider spread than Ultra Low. Independent reviews put the gap at about 0.8 pips on majors (around 1.6 versus 0.8). On EUR/USD that is $8 per standard lot.

  • Trading 1 lot a month: the bonus costs about $8/month in extra spread.
  • Trading 10 lots a month: about $80/month.

A $100 credit that can't be withdrawn is used up within two months at 10 lots. For anything beyond light trading, the cheaper account usually beats the bonus. Our XM account types comparison shows the calculation in more detail.

Five things to check in the terms before you accept

  1. Withdrawal effect. What happens to the bonus if you withdraw any amount, including profit?
  2. Internal transfers. Is the bonus removed if you move money between your XM accounts?
  3. Expiry. Does unused credit expire, and when?
  4. Prohibited strategies. Bonus terms commonly ban "abuse" such as hedging across linked accounts. XM's client agreement treats manipulation of bonuses or promotions as fraud traffic.
  5. Entity named in the terms. It should match the company on your account statement.

Common mistakes

  • Treating equity as money. MT5 shows the bonus inside equity. Your real balance is what you deposited plus or minus closed profit.
  • Using a VPN or a relative's address to unlock a bonus region. That breaks the client agreement and can lead to profits being cancelled or the account closed.
  • Picking an offshore entity on purpose for the bonus. You give up the leverage limits and compensation cover you'd have under CySEC.

What we'd do

If you're in a country where XM's international entity offers a bonus, read the terms in your Members Area. Accept it only if you trade small and the terms don't restrict withdrawals of profit. Size every trade as if the bonus didn't exist. If you trade actively, skip it and use Ultra Low. Check XM's licence for your country on our is XM legit page first. Frequently asked questions

Is the XM bonus withdrawable?

No. XM's own bonus page states that bonuses are not withdrawable; the credit works as extra margin. Profits you make while trading generally belong to you, but withdrawing money may remove some or all of the bonus. Read the rule on partial withdrawals in the terms shown in your Members Area before you accept.

Can EU or UK traders get an XM bonus?

EU residents are onboarded by XM's CySEC-regulated entity, and EU rules restrict CFD providers from offering trading incentives to retail clients, so no bonus is available. UK-authorised CFD firms are under similar restrictions. A site promising EU or UK traders an XM bonus is out of date or steering you to an offshore entity.

Does XM have a no-deposit bonus?

XM has promoted a no-deposit trading bonus in some regions in the past. At the time of writing (October 2026) we found no current no-deposit offer on xm.com's bonus or promotions pages. Treat third-party claims as unverified until the offer appears in your own Members Area with its terms.

How much is the XM deposit bonus?

XM says bonus availability and percentage vary by region, and uses a 100% bonus on a $100 deposit only as an illustration. Sponsored articles have quoted tiered amounts for specific countries, but we could not confirm them on xm.com. Your Members Area shows the actual percentage and cap for your account.

Can I use the bonus on the Ultra Low account?

XM links its bonus to the Standard account; Ultra Low is positioned as a low-spread account without bonuses, and independent reviews describe it as not bonus-eligible. If you want the bonus you'll usually pay a wider spread, so work out whether the bonus is worth more than the extra spread for your trading volume.
