Deriv Minimum Deposit by Account Type and Payment Method

Deriv's minimum deposit is 5 USD into the Deriv Wallet, but each payment method sets its own floor: mobile money such as M-Pesa starts at 5 USD, while Visa, Mastercard and Neteller start at 10 USD. There is no separate minimum per MT5 account type; you transfer from the Wallet in amounts from 1 USD.

Deriv's minimum deposit in one line
The lowest amount you can put into Deriv is 5 USD, deposited into your Deriv Wallet. That figure comes from Deriv's own help centre and its forex market FAQ, checked in October 2026. The catch is that 5 USD is the floor for the Wallet as a whole. Each payment method has its own minimum, and some are higher. Cards and Neteller, for example, start at 10 USD.
So the practical answer is: 5 USD if you use a method that allows it (such as M-Pesa, MTN or Airtel mobile money), 10 USD if you pay by Visa, Mastercard or Neteller.
Minimum deposit by payment method
These figures come from Deriv's public payment-methods table. Deriv lists 72 methods in total, and which ones you see depends on your country, so treat this as a sample of the most common options rather than a full list.

Deriv says it charges no fee on deposits into the Wallet. Your bank, mobile-money provider or crypto network may still charge its own fee, which matters a lot on a 5 USD deposit: a 0.50 USD transfer fee is 10% of your account before you place a trade.
Is there a minimum per account type?
Deriv does not set a separate published minimum for each MT5 account type. The way the Wallet works explains why:
You deposit into your Deriv Wallet (minimum 5 USD).
You then transfer from the Wallet to a trading account: Deriv MT5 (Standard, Zero Spread, Swap-free, Financial, Gold or Crypto, depending on your country), Deriv cTrader, or the options platforms Deriv Trader and Deriv Bot.
Wallet-to-account transfers have their own limits: a minimum of 1 USD per transfer, a maximum of 10,000 USD per transfer, up to 10 transfers a day and 10,000 USD in total per day.
In other words, once 5 USD is in your Wallet you can move as little as 1 USD into an MT5 account. Whether 1 USD is enough to trade is a separate question, answered below.
What can you actually trade with 5 to 20 USD?
The deposit is only useful if it can carry a position with a sensible stop-loss. Two worked examples using Deriv's published contract specs (checked October 2026; specs can change):
Forex micro contract. Deriv lists "micro" versions of forex pairs, such as AUDUSDmicro, with a contract size of 1,000 units and a minimum trade size of 0.1. So the smallest trade is 0.1 × 1,000 = 100 units of AUD. On a USD-quoted pair, one pip (0.0001) on 100 units is worth 0.01 USD.
A 20-pip stop-loss on that minimum trade risks 20 × 0.01 = 0.20 USD.
On a 10 USD balance, that is 2% risk per trade, which is workable.
Standard forex contract. A standard contract is 100,000 units with a minimum size of 0.01 lot, so the smallest trade is 1,000 units. One pip is then worth 0.10 USD.
The same 20-pip stop risks 2.00 USD.
On a 10 USD balance, that is 20% per trade, far too much.
That is the honest answer to "how much do I need?": 5 USD lets you open an account; around 100 to 200 USD lets you trade standard 0.01-lot positions with a 20-pip stop while risking 1–2% per trade (2 USD is 2% of 100 USD and 1% of 200 USD). Use our position size calculator to run your own numbers, and read our lot size guide if the units are unfamiliar.

Synthetic indices work on different contract sizes, which are shown in the MT5 symbol specification. Check the minimum volume for the exact index before depositing a tiny amount for it, because some have minimum trades that move several dollars per point.
Does Deriv offer a deposit bonus?
Not as of October 2026. Deriv ran a 20% first-deposit margin bonus on MT5 Swap-free accounts, capped at 100 USD, but its help centre says that campaign ended on 31 July 2026. The bonus was trading credit that could not be withdrawn. If you see a "Deriv bonus" advertised on social media today, verify it on deriv.com before acting.
Step by step: making your first deposit
Sign up and verify your profile (selfie, ID and proof of address or GPS). Deriv's help centre says you can fund your account once verification is approved, and withdrawals always require it. See our account opening guide.
Open the Wallet and choose Deposit.
Pick a method. The cashier shows the live minimum and maximum for that method in your currency.
Enter the amount. If you are paying by mobile money, approve the prompt on your phone.
Once the Wallet is credited, use Transfer to move funds into your MT5, cTrader or options account.
Common mistakes with small deposits
Depositing by card, then expecting 5 USD to work. The card minimum is 10 USD.
Forgetting the transfer step. Money in the Wallet is not in MT5 until you transfer it.
Ignoring provider fees. Check your mobile-money or bank fee before sending a small amount.
Over-leveraging to "make the account worth it". With up to 1:1000 leverage on selected instruments, a small balance can be wiped out by one trade. Read our leverage guide first.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Full risk disclosure.
Our take
Deriv's 5 USD minimum is among the lowest in the market, and the mobile-money options make it practical in much of Africa. Just treat the minimum as an entry ticket rather than a trading budget. If you want to practise first, the Deriv demo account costs nothing and does not expire. Before depositing more, it is worth reading whether Deriv is legit and how withdrawals work.
Deriv's help centre states that the lowest deposit is 5 USD into your Deriv Wallet. Individual methods can be higher: Visa, Mastercard and Neteller start at 10 USD, while mobile-money options such as M-Pesa, MTN and Airtel start at 5 USD in Deriv's payment-methods table. The exact limit appears in the cashier when you choose a method.
Can I deposit 1 USD on Deriv?
Not into the Wallet; the floor is 5 USD. However, once funds are in your Wallet, you can transfer as little as 1 USD into an MT5 or other trading account. That is useful for splitting a small balance between accounts, but 1 USD is rarely enough to trade with a sensible stop-loss.
What is the minimum deposit for Deriv MT5?
Deriv does not publish a separate minimum for MT5 account types. You fund the Wallet with at least 5 USD and then transfer to MT5, with transfers starting at 1 USD. What really matters is the minimum trade size of the instrument you want, which you can see in MT5's symbol specification.
Does Deriv charge deposit fees?
Deriv says there are no fees for deposits into the Deriv Wallet. Your bank, card issuer, mobile-money operator or crypto network may still charge you. On small deposits, those outside fees can be a large percentage, so check them before sending money.
What is the minimum deposit for Deriv P2P?
Deriv P2P has no single fixed minimum. Each advertiser sets the minimum and maximum order size in their advert, in your local currency. Deriv's own cap is up to 10,000 USD per day, and the daily limits you see also depend on your P2P tier, from Bronze to Diamond.
