Deriv P2P is an in-platform marketplace where you buy or sell Deriv balance with other verified users and pay in local currency, with Deriv holding funds in escrow. Deriv lists it at up to 10,000 USD per day with orders completing within an hour, and limits rise through four tiers from Bronze to Diamond.

What Deriv P2P is
Deriv P2P is a peer-to-peer marketplace inside your Deriv account. Instead of paying Deriv by card, you buy Deriv balance from another verified user and pay them in your local currency, usually by bank transfer or mobile money. To withdraw, you do the reverse: you sell your Deriv balance to a user who pays you locally.
Deriv's role is to run the marketplace and hold the Deriv funds in escrow until both sides confirm the payment. According to Deriv's payment-methods page (October 2026), P2P supports up to 10,000 USD per day and orders complete in up to 1 hour.
P2P exists mainly for countries where cards are declined for trading sites or international e-wallets are hard to use. It is popular across parts of Africa, Asia and Latin America for exactly that reason.
How a P2P deposit works
Verify your account. Deriv requires the same checks as for withdrawals: a selfie, an ID document, and proof of address (or GPS confirmation). You cannot use P2P until this is approved.
Open Deriv P2P from your Deriv account and choose Buy.
Pick an advert. Each advert shows the advertiser's rate, minimum and maximum order size, accepted payment methods and completion history.
Create the order. The advertiser's Deriv balance is locked in escrow for your order.
Pay the advertiser in local currency using the payment details shown in the order. Pay from an account in your own name.
Mark the order as paid.
The advertiser confirms receipt and the funds are released to your Deriv balance.
How a P2P withdrawal works
Choose Sell and pick a buyer's advert.
Your Deriv balance for the order moves into escrow.
The buyer pays you in local currency.
Check your bank or mobile-money app directly. Only when the money is visibly in your account do you confirm and release the funds.
That last step is where almost every P2P loss happens.
Reading an advert: the rate is the fee
Deriv did not state a separate P2P fee on the pages we checked; the main cost is built into the advertiser's rate. Here is how to compare two adverts when depositing in Kenyan shillings (illustrative rates, not live quotes):
Advert
Rate (KES per 1 USD)
Cost of 100 USD of Deriv balance
Difference vs reference rate of 129
A
131
13,100 KES
200 KES (about 1.6%)
B
134
13,400 KES
500 KES (about 3.9%)
Advert A is about 300 KES cheaper for the same 100 USD. When selling, you want the opposite: the highest local-currency rate. Always compare against the official exchange rate from your central bank or a reliable source before ordering.
Limits and tiers
Deriv's help centre describes four P2P tiers, from Bronze to Diamond. Each tier sets daily buy and sell limits based on your activity and verification level, so new users start with lower limits that rise as you complete orders. Deriv publishes the exact tier limits in images on its help page rather than text, so check them in the app. On top of tiers, each advert has its own minimum and maximum order size, and the platform-wide figure on Deriv's payment-methods page is up to 10,000 USD per day.
Which countries can use P2P is not listed in text on Deriv's help pages; if P2P does not appear in your account, it is not available for your country or currency.
The scams to know, and how to beat them
Deriv's help centre lists specific P2P scam types. Here is what each looks like in practice:
Scam
How it works
Your defence
Fake SMS payment alert
You receive an SMS that looks like a bank or M-Pesa confirmation, but no money arrived
Ignore SMS. Open your bank or wallet app and check the balance
Fake proof of payment
The buyer sends a screenshot or PDF "receipt"
A screenshot is not money. Confirm in your own account
Impostor
Someone contacts you outside the platform claiming to be Deriv support or the advertiser
Communicate only through the order chat; treat any request to release funds outside the order flow as a scam
Third-party payment
Money arrives from an account in a different name, sometimes stolen funds
Only accept payment from the name on the order; raise a dispute otherwise
A practical habit: before you tap "release", refresh your banking app, check the sender's name and the exact amount, and only then confirm. If anything is wrong, do not release; use the order's dispute option and contact Deriv support from inside the platform.

If a direct method such as mobile money works in your country, it is usually simpler. P2P earns its place when it is the only practical local route or when you need larger amounts than your mobile-money cap allows. See Deriv deposit methods for the full list.
Becoming an advertiser
You can also post your own adverts and act as a buyer or seller for other users. That means handling other people's payments and being responsible for confirming them correctly, so it carries more operational and fraud risk than simply using adverts. Check the local legal position on dealing in currency in your country before doing it at any scale.
What we would do
Start with a small P2P order, for example 10 to 20 USD, with an advertiser who has a long completion record and quick release times. Note how long it really took. Keep your trading balance separate in your mind from money you need for bills, and read how Deriv withdrawals work before you depend on P2P to get money out.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Full risk disclosure.
The platform uses escrow, so a seller's Deriv funds are locked until the order is confirmed, which protects buyers. Sellers face more risk: fake SMS alerts, forged receipts and payments from third-party accounts are the common scams. If you only release after seeing the money in your own bank or wallet app, most of that risk disappears.
How long does a Deriv P2P order take?
Deriv's payment-methods page lists P2P deposits and withdrawals at up to one hour. In practice, timing depends on how quickly the other user pays or confirms and on your local payment rails. Choosing advertisers with a strong completion history and short average release times usually gets orders done faster.
What are the Deriv P2P limits?
Deriv lists P2P at up to 10,000 USD per day. Your personal daily buy and sell limits depend on your tier, from Bronze to Diamond, which Deriv bases on your activity and verification. Each advert also has its own minimum and maximum order size, shown before you place the order.
Does Deriv charge fees for P2P?
The cost of P2P is mainly in the exchange rate the advertiser sets. A rate 2% worse than the official rate costs you 2 USD per 100 USD. Your bank or mobile-money operator may also charge for the local transfer. Compare a few adverts against the official rate before choosing.
Why can't I see Deriv P2P in my account?
P2P is not available in every country or currency, and you must complete verification first, including a selfie, ID and proof of address. If you are verified and still cannot see it, P2P is probably not offered where you live. Contact Deriv live chat to confirm, and use another deposit method instead.
