HFM Minimum Deposit by Account Type and Payment Method

By BrokaBoy Research Team · Reviewed 14 October 2026 · Updated 14 October 2026 · 5 min read

HFM's global site lists no minimum deposit for its Cent and Premium accounts, $100 for Pro and $500 for InfinityX. The Zero account shows $0 in the comparison table but $25 in its FAQ. In practice the payment method sets a floor too: $5 by card, $10 to $30 for alternative methods and $100 by bank transfer.

Key takeaways

  • Cent and Premium: $0 minimum; Pro: $100; InfinityX: $500
  • Zero account: $0 in HFM's table but $25 in its FAQ, so plan for $25
  • Card deposits start at $5, bank transfers at $100
  • A cent account lets a $20–$50 balance follow a 1% risk rule; a standard account needs a few hundred dollars
  • Minimums can differ under HFM UK and HFM Europe; check your registration page

HFM minimum deposit by account

These are the minimums on HFM's international site, which is operated by HF Markets (SV) Ltd (checked October 2026):

AccountMinimum depositAccount currenciesSpreads fromCommission
Cent$0USC (US cents)1.4 pipsNone
Premium$0 / €0USD, EUR1.4 pipsNone
Zero$0 in table; $25 in FAQUSD, EUR0.0 pips on forexAbout $6 per lot round turn (majors)
Pro$100 / €100USD, EUR0.6 pipsNone
InfinityX$500USD, EUR, NGN, JPY, THB, IDR, GHS0.3 pipsNone

Two notes before you rely on the table:

  • Zero account conflict. HFM's comparison table says $0, but the Zero account FAQ says the minimum is $25. Plan for $25 until HFM brings the two into line.
  • Pro in other currencies. The Pro FAQ also quotes ₦50,000 and ¥13,000 as the equivalent minimums for naira and yen accounts.

If you sign up with HF Markets (UK) Ltd or HF Markets (Europe) Ltd, the account line-up and minimums may differ. The registration process shows which entity you're joining. Our HFM safety check explains why that matters.

The payment method has its own minimum

The account minimum is only one floor. Each payment method sets another, and the higher one wins.

MethodMinimum depositMaximumProcessing time HFM quotes
Credit/debit card$5$10,000Up to 10 minutes
Alternative method (first group)$10$10,000Up to 10 minutes
Alternative method (second group)$30$10,000Instant
Bank transfer$100No limit2–7 business days

HFM doesn't name every "alternative" method in the public table. These are local and e-wallet options that change by country, and the Client Area shows the ones available to you. So a $0 Premium account funded by bank wire still needs $100. The same account funded by card can start at $5. More detail is in our HFM deposit methods guide.

Opening an account is cheap; trading sensibly costs more

A tiny balance lets you open an account. Whether it lets you trade with a stop loss and a fixed risk per trade is a separate question. Here are three worked examples on EUR/USD, using a 25-pip stop and risking 1% of the balance per trade.

Premium account with $20

  • The smallest trade is 0.01 lots, or 1,000 euros (lot sizes explained). That's worth about $0.10 per pip.
  • 1% of $20 is $0.20. Divide by $0.10 per pip and you get a stop of just 2 pips, which is tighter than the 1.4-pip minimum spread plus normal noise.
  • With a realistic 25-pip stop, one trade risks $2.50, or 12.5% of the account. That's too much.

Cent account with $20

  • $20 shows as 2,000 USC. One cent lot is 1,000 units, so 0.01 cent lots is just 10 units. HFM's Cent account still counts trade size in "lots", but each lot is 100 times smaller than a standard lot.
  • 1 cent lot on EUR/USD = 1,000 × 0.0001 = $0.10 per pip, which is 10 USC per pip.
  • 1% risk = 20 USC. With a 25-pip stop: 20 ÷ 25 = 0.8 USC per pip, so you can trade 0.08 cent lots. The rule works.

Pro account with $500

  • 1% risk = $5. With a 25-pip stop: $5 ÷ 25 = $0.20 per pip, or 0.02 standard lots.
  • This is roughly where a standard account starts to feel workable.

Our position size calculator runs these sums for any pair, stop distance and balance.

Which minimum should you actually use?

Your situationSensible account and starting amount
First live trades, nervous about real moneyCent, $10–$50
You have a tested plan and want low costs on majorsZero, $200+ (commission makes very small trades inefficient)
You want no commission and no minimumPremium, $100–$300 for 0.01-lot trading
You want tighter spreads without commissionPro, $100 minimum, $500+ comfortable
You understand the risks of very high leverageInfinityX, $500 minimum

Be careful with the InfinityX account. HFM advertises unlimited leverage on selected instruments with a 0% stop-out level. Low margin requirements don't reduce risk per pip. They just let you open bigger positions than your balance can absorb. Read our HFM leverage guide before choosing it.

Minimums for copy trading accounts

HFM's copy trading runs on separate accounts with separate rules:

  • Followers open a dedicated Copy Trading account. HFM doesn't publish a fixed follower minimum on its follower page. In practice, the minimum copied trade is 0.01 lots, so you need enough equity for the strategy's trades to scale down to at least that size.
  • Strategy providers need an opening deposit of $25 (2,500 USC) on a Cent account or $100 on a Premium or Pro account.

As a rough check, imagine a provider with $1,200 equity opening 0.10 lots. If you copy proportionally with $300 at 100% allocation, your trade is 0.10 × 300 ÷ 1,200 = 0.025 lots. Below a certain balance, small trades round down to nothing or up to 0.01, and your results drift away from the provider's. See HFM copy trading.

Common mistakes with HFM's low minimums

  1. Funding the wrong currency. If your bank account is in naira or rand and you open a USD account, conversion fees apply both ways. InfinityX offers NGN and GHS account currencies, but the other accounts are USD/EUR (or USC on Cent).
  2. Depositing by bank wire below $100. It's below the method minimum, and HFM only says deposits over $100 are fee-free.
  3. Treating a bonus as part of the minimum. Where HFM runs top-up bonuses, the bonus credit can't be withdrawn, and withdrawing your own cash removes part of the bonus. See HFM bonus terms.
  4. Forgetting the round trip. Cards can only be refunded to the same card, and card withdrawals can take 2–10 business days. Deposit an amount you're comfortable having tied up for a week or two. Our withdrawal guide has the details.

How to make your first deposit

  1. Register and complete identity verification. Some methods only appear once you're verified.
  2. Open the account type you want in the Client Area, then choose Deposit.
  3. Pick a method. The minimum and any limits show beside each one.
  4. Enter an amount at or above the higher of the account minimum and the method minimum.
  5. Confirm the balance shows on MT4/MT5 before placing a trade.

Our take

For a first live account at HFM we'd start on the Cent account with $20–$50. It's the only setup where a small balance can follow a 1% risk rule with normal stop distances. Once your results justify it, move to Pro or Zero with a few hundred dollars. And don't let a $0 minimum persuade you to deposit money you need elsewhere.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Full risk disclosure.

Frequently asked questions

What is HFM's minimum deposit?

On HFM's global site the account minimums are $0 for Cent and Premium, $100 for Pro and $500 for InfinityX. The Zero account is listed at $0 in the comparison table but $25 in its FAQ. Your payment method can raise the practical floor: cards start at $5 and bank transfers at $100.

Can I open an HFM account with $10?

Yes. Cent and Premium accounts have no account minimum, and a card deposit can be as small as $5. With $10, the Cent account is the more practical choice, because your balance shows as 1,000 US cents and the smallest trade risks a tiny fraction of a cent per pip. That lets you test live execution without risking much.

What is the minimum deposit for the HFM Zero account?

HFM's account comparison table shows $0 or €0 for the Zero account, but the Zero account FAQ on the same site says the minimum deposit is $25. Until HFM fixes the conflict, plan on depositing at least $25. Remember that Zero also charges a commission, around $6 per standard lot round turn on major pairs.

Is the HFM minimum deposit the same in every country?

Not necessarily. The figures here come from the global site run by HF Markets (SV) Ltd. Clients of HFM UK, HFM Europe or other entities may see different account line-ups and minimums. Local payment methods also have their own minimums. Your registration form and the Client Area deposit page show the figures that apply to you.

Does HFM charge a deposit fee?

HFM states that it does not apply deposit fees. For bank transfers it says no fees apply to deposits over $100, which is also the bank transfer minimum. Your bank, card issuer or e-wallet may still charge its own fees or a currency conversion margin, so check those before you fund.
