XM Deposit Methods: Cards, E-Wallets, Bank Transfer and Crypto

By BrokaBoy Research Team · Reviewed 14 October 2026 · Updated 14 October 2026 · 5 min read

XM accepts cards, e-wallets, local bank transfers, international wires and, in some countries, crypto. The exact list depends on your country and entity and appears in the Members Area. XM says it charges no deposit or withdrawal fees but doesn't cover wires under $200, and deposits must come from accounts in your own name.

Key takeaways

  • Available methods depend on your country and XM entity
  • XM says deposits are free; wires under $200 aren't covered
  • Payments must come from an account in your own name
  • Deposits return to the original method before profits can go elsewhere
  • Cards and e-wallets are usually instant; wires take 1–5 business days

The methods, in one table

XM's deposit methods depend on your country and the XM entity that holds your account. The full list for you only appears in the Members Area after you register. Across XM's international entities, independent reviews from 2025–2026 report the following families of methods. XM's own pages describe deposits and withdrawals as free on XM's side, apart from bank wires under $200.

Two sources disagree on crypto. FXEmpire's 2026 review lists crypto deposits, while DailyForex's withdrawal guide says crypto isn't available. That is consistent with methods being entity- and country-specific. Only trust what your Members Area shows.

How to deposit on XM, step by step

  1. Verify first, or at least start verifying. Some methods only appear once your profile is validated, and every withdrawal requires a verified account anyway. See our XM sign-up guide.
  2. Log in to the Members Area (not MT4/MT5 — you can't deposit from the trading terminal).
  3. Choose Deposit and select the trading account to fund. If you hold several, check the account number twice.
  4. Pick a method. The list you see is already filtered for your country.
  5. Enter the amount in the method's currency and confirm. Note the exchange rate shown if it differs from your account's base currency.
  6. Complete the payment on the provider's page (3-D Secure for cards, wallet login for e-wallets).
  7. Check the balance in MT5's Trade tab. Card and e-wallet deposits are normally visible within minutes.

Rules that shape how you should fund

Name matching. XM's client agreement requires the details on your account and deposits to match the name on the card or payment account you use. Payments from a partner's card or a friend's wallet are the most common reason for a frozen deposit.

Withdrawals follow deposits. XM states that deposited money returns to the original method. Profits above that can go to any other available method. This affects which method you deposit with:

You depositThen you withdraw $700 ($500 deposit + $200 profit)
$500 by card$500 back to the card first; the $200 profit can go to e-wallet or bank
$500 by SkrillAll $700 can usually go back to Skrill
$300 card + $200 Skrill$300 to card, $200 to Skrill, profit to your choice of method

If you split deposits across three methods, you'll have to split withdrawals across them too. Pick one main method and stick with it. More on this in our XM withdrawal guide.

Currency. XM quotes minimums in USD and shows equivalents in other deposit currencies. If your bank account is in ZAR and your XM account in USD, every deposit and withdrawal is converted. Example: depositing R5,000 at a rate of 18.20 ZAR/USD credits about $274.73 before any spread on the rate. Converting back later at a worse rate is a real cost, so choose a base currency you can fund without conversion where XM offers it.

Fees: what XM says and what you may still pay

XM's reviews page says it does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees and usually covers payment-provider transfer fees. The exception is wire transfers under $200, where fees can apply. That leaves three costs XM doesn't control:

  • Your bank's international transfer or cash-advance fee.
  • Currency conversion spread if your payment currency differs from your account currency.
  • Crypto network (gas) fees on crypto deposits.

Worked example: a $150 international wire from a bank that charges a $25 SWIFT fee, plus a $15 intermediary charge, arrives as about $110. That falls under the $200 threshold, and it shows why small deposits should go by card, e-wallet or local transfer.

Which method to pick for which situation

Your situationBest-fit methodWhy
First deposit of $5–$200Card or e-walletInstant, no wire charges, easy to withdraw back
You trade with several brokersE-wallet (Skrill/Neteller)One wallet to move money between brokers
Large deposit ($5,000+)Local bank transfer or wireCard limits are often lower; wire fees matter less at this size
Your bank blocks broker paymentsLocal gateway or e-walletAvoids repeated card declines
You're paid in cryptoCrypto, only if listed for your entityCheck the exact network and that withdrawals are available the same way

Deposit checklist before you press "confirm"

  • The account number you're funding is the one you trade on (MT4 vs MT5, Standard vs Ultra Low).
  • The payment card or wallet is in your name.
  • You know the exchange rate if the currencies differ.
  • You've read whether accepting a bonus is automatic on this deposit, and whether you want it.
  • Your profile is at least partly verified, so the money isn't stuck later.

Troubleshooting a deposit that hasn't arrived

  • Card declined: some banks block payments to forex brokers. Call your bank or use an e-wallet.
  • Bank transfer missing after 24 hours: check that you used the exact reference XM gave you, then send the proof of payment to XM support.
  • Crypto missing: check the transaction hash on a block explorer and confirm you used the network XM specified.
  • Deposit reversed: usually a name mismatch or an unverified card. XM may ask for documents verifying the card before it accepts further card deposits.

What we'd do

Fund with one method you can also withdraw to. For most readers that is a card for small deposits or an e-wallet if you trade with several brokers. Avoid wires under $200. If you're in Kenya, Nigeria or South Africa, compare local options in our local deposit methods guides. Check how much you need on the XM minimum deposit page, and confirm which entity holds your money on is XM legit before you send it. The XM review covers the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Does XM charge deposit fees?

XM says it does not charge fees on deposits or withdrawals and usually covers payment-provider transfer fees, except for wire transfers under $200. You may still pay your own bank's charges, currency conversion spreads, or crypto network fees, which XM does not control.

How long does an XM deposit take?

Card and e-wallet deposits are typically credited instantly. Local bank transfers and online banking gateways can take up to 24 hours, international wires one to five business days, and crypto from minutes up to about a day depending on network confirmations. Delays usually come from name mismatches, missing payment references, or the account not yet being verified, so check those first before contacting support.

Can I deposit to XM with crypto?

Some reviews list crypto deposits at XM, while others say crypto is not available. Availability depends on your entity and country. If crypto appears in your Members Area, use the exact network specified and confirm how withdrawals will be returned before depositing, because a deposit on the wrong network may be unrecoverable.

Can I deposit using someone else's card?

No. XM's client agreement requires the name on the card or payment account to match the account holder. Third-party payments are one of the most common reasons deposits are rejected or frozen, and they can complicate withdrawals later, since money must return to the method it came from and that method must belong to you.

What is the minimum deposit amount for each method?

XM's account minimum is $5 on Standard and Ultra Low. Individual methods can have their own floors, shown in the Members Area for your country. In practice, avoid international wires under $200 because XM doesn't cover their fees and bank charges can consume much of the transfer.
