How to Withdraw from XM: Methods, Fees and Processing Time

By BrokaBoy Research Team · Reviewed 14 October 2026 · Updated 14 October 2026 · 6 min read

Request XM withdrawals in the Members Area. XM says it processes them within one business day once your account is verified, with no XM fee, though wires under $200 and your own bank may charge. Deposits go back to the method you paid with first, and profits can then go to any available method.

Key takeaways

  • XM says it processes withdrawals within one business day once you're verified
  • Deposits return to the original method first; profits can go elsewhere
  • No XM withdrawal fee, but wires under $200 and your bank may charge
  • Withdraw only from free margin, and check bonus terms first
  • XM never asks for a 'release fee'; anyone who does is a scammer

How XM withdrawals work, in brief

You request a withdrawal in XM's Members Area, not inside MT4 or MT5. XM says it processes requests within 24 hours (one business day) once your account is fully verified, and that this applies to every payment method. E-wallet payouts often land within hours. Cards and bank transfers take longer because the bank still has to clear the money. XM states it doesn't charge withdrawal fees, but bank wires under $200 can carry fees, and your own bank or wallet may charge too (XM Global site, checked October 2026).

That's the headline. The rest of this guide covers what decides how fast your money arrives, and the rules that catch people out.

Before you press "Withdraw": the four gates

Most withdrawal problems at XM trace back to one of these. Clear all four and the request usually goes through without questions.

GateWhat XM needsHow to check
1. Verified profileID and proof of address approvedMembers Area shows your profile as validated
2. Same-name payment methodCard, wallet or bank account in your own nameThe name on the method matches your XM profile exactly
3. Free marginEnough money not tied up in open tradesMT5 Trade tab: the amount you withdraw must be below "Free margin"
4. Return-to-source orderDeposits go back the way they came firstList which methods you've deposited with, and how much on each

If you haven't verified yet, start now. Our XM account opening guide covers the documents. Verification is the only gate that can take more than a few minutes to clear.

Step by step

  1. Log in to the Members Area on xm.com or in the XM app.
  2. Choose Withdrawal and select the trading account you're withdrawing from.
  3. Pick the method. If you've deposited by card, the card will usually be offered first, because the deposit has to go back there.
  4. Enter the amount in your account's currency. Check the converted figure if the method uses a different currency.
  5. Confirm. The amount is deducted from your trading balance immediately, so it can no longer be used as margin.
  6. Track the status in the Members Area. Once XM has processed it, the remaining time depends on your bank or wallet.

Tip: close or reduce positions before step 5. Withdrawing most of your free margin with trades open can push the margin level toward XM's 50% margin-call and 20% stop-out levels.

How the return-to-source rule works with real numbers

XM says deposits are returned to the original method, and profits can then go to any other available method. This is an anti-money-laundering rule most regulated brokers follow, and it decides where your money can go.

Example A — one method. You deposited $300 by Skrill and the account is now $480. You can withdraw the whole $480 to Skrill.

Example B — card plus profit. You deposited $300 by card and the account is now $480.

  • First $300 → back to the card (a refund of the original payment)
  • Remaining $180 profit → card, e-wallet or bank, whichever is available to you

Example C — two methods. You deposited $200 by card and $300 by bank transfer, and you now hold $650.

  • $200 → card
  • $300 → bank account
  • $150 profit → any available method

If you only want $100 out in Example C, it will normally go to one of the deposit methods first. Using one main funding method makes everything simpler. Our XM deposit methods guide helps you choose one you can also withdraw to.

Expired or cancelled card? Tell support before requesting the withdrawal. Brokers usually ask for proof that the card is closed and then send the refund to a bank account in your name instead.

How long each method takes

XM's own commitment covers the processing step (within one business day). The table below adds the typical time for the money to reach you after that. The second column is our estimate from how these payment systems work, not an XM promise.

MethodXM processingThen typicallyTotal you should plan for
E-walletWithin 1 business day, often hoursMinutesSame day to 1 business day
Card refundWithin 1 business day2–5 business days (card network and issuer)Up to about a week
Local bank transferWithin 1 business day1–2 business days2–3 business days
International wireWithin 1 business day2–5 business days, longer with intermediary banksUp to about a week

Weekends and public holidays don't count as business days. A request made on a Friday evening will usually be processed on Monday.

Fees: who charges what

CostWho charges itHow to avoid it
XM withdrawal feeNone, according to XM—
Wire under $200May incur fees (XM's wording)Use an e-wallet or card for small amounts
Intermediary and receiving bank feesYour bank and correspondentsUse local transfer where offered
Currency conversionYour bank or wallet, or the conversion into your account currencyWithdraw in the currency your bank account uses where possible
Wallet withdrawal-to-bank feeThe e-wallet providerCheck the wallet's fee table before using it as a hub

A worked example of the wire trap: you wire $150 to a bank that charges $15 to receive international payments, and an intermediary bank takes $20. You receive $115, so almost a quarter of the withdrawal is gone. The same $150 sent to an e-wallet arrives in full, and you then pay only the wallet's own fee to move it to your bank.

Withdrawing when you have a bonus

XM's bonus page says bonuses are not withdrawable. They sit in your account as credit, which adds to equity but isn't your money. What XM's public page doesn't spell out is exactly how a withdrawal affects that credit. Many brokers remove some or all of the bonus when you withdraw. Read the bonus terms in your Members Area before requesting a withdrawal, especially if open trades depend on the credit to stay above stop-out. Our XM bonus guide explains how the credit works.

When a withdrawal is delayed or rejected

Work through this list before contacting support:

  1. Status says "pending" after one business day. Check your email for a document request. XM's client agreement allows it to ask for documents about the cards you've used.
  2. Rejected for name mismatch. The receiving account or wallet isn't in your exact name. Use a method in your name.
  3. Rejected for insufficient free margin. Close positions or withdraw less.
  4. Processed but not received. Ask XM for the transaction reference, then give it to your bank or wallet provider. After processing, the money is with them.
  5. Still stuck after a week. Open a written complaint through XM's complaints procedure and keep copies. Your next step depends on your XM company: the regulator for your entity, or the Financial Ombudsman for EU clients. Our guide to what to do when a broker won't let you withdraw covers escalation.

Scam warning: XM doesn't ask clients to pay a "release fee", "tax" or "verification deposit" before a withdrawal. Anyone asking for that, by phone, WhatsApp or Telegram, is not XM. See is XM legit for how to check you're dealing with the real company.

Inactive or closed accounts

Independent reviews report an inactivity fee of $10 per month after 90 days without activity. XM's own public pages we checked don't list it, so confirm it in your account terms. If you're stepping away from trading, withdraw the balance rather than leaving a small amount to be eaten by fees. In the case of a client's death, XM's client agreement says legal heirs need official documents before XM decides on releasing the balance.

What we'd do

Make a small test withdrawal in your first week, even $10–$20, using the method you plan to rely on. It proves the route works for your country before you have serious money at stake. Deposit with one method you can also withdraw to, keep withdrawals above $200 if you must use a wire, and withdraw profits regularly rather than letting the balance build up at an offshore entity. Frequently asked questions

How long does an XM withdrawal take?

XM says it processes withdrawal requests within 24 hours, or one business day, after your account is verified, for all methods. E-wallet payouts often arrive within hours. Card refunds and bank transfers then depend on your bank and can take several more business days, especially international wires that pass through intermediary banks.

Does XM charge withdrawal fees?

XM states it doesn't charge deposit or withdrawal fees and covers most transfer fees. The exception it mentions is bank wire transfers under $200, which may incur fees. Your own bank, an intermediary bank or your e-wallet provider can still charge, and currency conversion may cost extra if currencies differ.

Why can't I withdraw my profits to my card?

Card refunds are normally limited to the amount you deposited by card, because the payment is reversed to its source. XM says deposits go back to the original method and profits can go to another available method, such as an e-wallet or bank account in your name. Check the options shown in your Members Area.

Can I withdraw with open trades?

Yes, but only from free margin, the money not supporting open positions. Withdrawing reduces equity immediately, so a large withdrawal can push your margin level toward XM's 50% margin-call and 20% stop-out levels. Close or reduce positions first if the amount is large compared with your balance.

Can I withdraw the XM bonus?

No. XM's bonus page says bonuses are not withdrawable. The bonus is credit that supports trading, while profits made on your own balance can be withdrawn. A withdrawal may also affect the remaining bonus credit, so read the bonus terms in your Members Area before requesting one, especially with trades open.

Why is my XM withdrawal pending?

The usual reasons are an unverified profile, a document request about a card you used, a name mismatch on the receiving account, or a request made over a weekend. Check your email and Members Area first. If XM has processed it but the money hasn't arrived, ask XM for the transaction reference and take it to your bank or wallet.
